The English Football Association has charged Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson with misconduct after he insinuated a match official had it in for his side following their 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.
Fergie was enraged when linesman Simon Beck failed to award the Red Devils a penalty kick when United was leading 1-0 in their high-profile English Premier League clash with Spurs.
Ferguson said during a post-match interview “There was no way we were going to get a decision from [Beck]”.
The FA says Ferguson broke Rule No. E3 when he implied that the match official was motivated by a bias against his team.
The FA fined Ferguson $18,900 (U.S.) for his comments in a decision announced on February 8th. The emotional coach is never shy about expressing his displeasure and has faced past disciplinary action for comments about Mark Clattenburg, Jeff Winter, Mike Dean and Alan Wiley dating back to 2008.
